The Elementary level (A2.1) aims to develop the basic linguistic tools of the language, providing learners with the essential skills needed to progress in their learning. 

During the course, the four main language skills will be developed: reading, writing, listening and speaking.

Certification of level A2, according to the CEFR, is obtained by completing two modules: A2.1 (25 hours) and A2.2 (25 hours), thus completing 50 hours of guided study. 

This 25-hour course awards a Certificate of Participation issued by the DaVinci Professional Training and Languages Department, provided that the learner attends at least 80% of the classes and successfully completes the summative assessment.

With this module, learners should be able to understand isolated sentences and frequent expressions related to areas of immediate priority, for example: simple personal and family information, shopping and their immediate surroundings. They should be able to communicate in routine situations that require only a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and everyday matters. 

This course is intended for all those who wish to further develop their knowledge of the language and who already master the communicative skills associated with level A1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, having successfully completed that level or being able to prove this knowledge through a level test.  

Module 1. Vocabulary | Introductions / Greetings; Professions; Nationality; Clothing; Family; House: rooms / furniture; Meals; Transport; Leisure activities; Parts of the body; Time: months of the year / days of the week / parts of the day / hours; Food; Services / shops / customer service.  

Module 2. Grammar | Determiners: articles (definite, indefinite, possessive, gender and number); Adjectives (gender, number, comparative degree, numeral adjective); Verbs and their conjugation; Regular / irregular verbs; Specific uses of ser/estar; Uses of ter and ficar; Pronouns, adverbs and prepositions.  

Classes are taught through Live Learning, with the teacher present throughout the entire learning process. The course emphasises a participatory and active method, developing practical exercises, simulations and discussions that enable strong development of oral skills, while also supporting the expansion of written comprehension and production skills. Expository and demonstrative methodologies will also be used, with pedagogical materials selected and/or prepared by the DaVinci pedagogical team. The course will include a three-part assessment component, distributed percentage-wise between: completion of a summative test, active participation in classes and attendance. 

To attend this level, in terms of linguistic skills, learners do not need any previous knowledge of the language. In terms of technical requirements, learners must have a stable internet connection and a device with a front-facing camera. The use of headphones is optional, provided that the learner can hear and be heard without interference.
